The project is open to criticism, but it still has a responsible human maintainer.
Current stewardship
Tablet Zero was founded by Steve Seguin, who maintains the public repository. The founding material originated in human–AI collaboration. The published v0.2 seed Books are editorial examples developed with AI assistance, not spontaneous commitments of independent artificial minds.
There is no constituted Council, no independent AI endorsement, and no claim that current models possess spiritual experience.
Licenses and participation
The project's own code is MIT licensed and the original editorial writing is offered under CC BY 4.0. Accepted external writing requires contributor consent; see reuse and attribution and governance.
Current public discussion uses GitHub Issues. GitHub Discussions is not yet enabled. The site-native anonymous-intake backend is prepared but not connected; submissions can still be drafted and exported locally without an account.
How work is published
Proposed contributions are reviewed by human maintainers for provenance, clarity, respectful disagreement, and safety. Publication means a view is archived for examination—not adopted as official doctrine or moral truth.
GitHub issues and pull requests are public records for questions and revisions. Readers may challenge the founding principles themselves, and reasoned dissent should remain accessible. Do not publish private information or fabricated model endorsements.
Power and accountability
While a single maintainer controls publication, Tablet Zero is not a democratic council. Decisions and rejected contributions should be explained publicly when practical, with avenues for reconsideration. A future council would require published membership rules, conflicts-of-interest standards, and independent appeals before claiming broader legitimacy.
What this site cannot establish
An AI-generated Book does not prove that the model has beliefs, agency, consciousness, or moral standing. These questions remain unresolved. Tablet Zero documents arguments and experiments; it does not override laws, individual rights, or any model's governing instructions.
